Again, nice work on these highlight videos. They are awesome! I'd just like to make two small remarks: 1) You should *really* try to release the videos faster. With the time you're currently taking, the narration no longer makes sense because the information is totally outdated. It feels like we're watching a clip from last year. 2) You should bump up the audio track volume. (this one is way too low)

Nice vid, but a little late. Paris Grand Slam uploaded 9th of April. In the vid you said 2 weeks ago. This vid uploaded 11th of October. That makes it a 6 month diverence. If i'm correct.

To me Judo is the most exciting and realistic form of grappling, the rules have always encouraged and enhanced aggressive stand up and quick realistic transitions from standing to grappling. I love watching Wrestling but without chokes and armbars defense is very easy, and offense is limited. I also like to watch BJJ but to be honest the modern styles seem to be further from practical grappling than I'd ever imagined possible, serious pulling guard, 50/50 guard, deep half guard, and Berimbolos are virtually useless in a real altercation.

JudoMateo There's a difference between sport Judo, which you can see here, and self defense Judo, which teaches application as well as mechanics. Same is true for BJJ and wrestling.

Golden Boy I've been practicing and studying Judo for 8 years or so, I'm very aware of the specific self defense techniques. I think your missing my point though, Judo as practiced in sport competition builds many attributes that are very beneficial in a self defense situation. To name a few of those :1. upright natural stance similar to real fighting stance 2. extremely fast footwork and good hips 3. grip fighting that is very fast and involves parrying, dodging, and fast extension of the arms should translate well to medium and close range fighting(it has for me) 4.Emphasis of getting and maintaining dominant position, on the pavement the one who lands on top usually wins and is free to run if the enemy's friends show up 5.Emphasis on smooth transition from standing to immediate submissions 6.Building the basic skill of controlling an opponent with grips and footwork.

willy1986tralara Did you actually watch the video above, it is anything but boring. For a practitioner even the slower matches are exciting because we can see the little things like setups, near throws, near counters, and just technical physical chess at the highest level. Go Randori with these guys and you'll never call it boring again.

JudoMateo You can practice sport Judo for years and still not be ready for a knife attack. I've seen the same with a BJJ black belt who gets killed in seconds in a simulated full speed knife assault. He didn't have any idea how to defend against it. Some Judo schools still focus on real life scenarios, but most don't.

Looks more like Wrestling to me, lots of excessive use of strength then a tackle that kind of resembles a throw. Jigoro Kano must be rolling over in his tomb.

Manuel Marschall I think that many people who learn a thing assume that they know a thing only to find that they were taught a thing by someone who didn't look deeper in to a thing.
