The first World Judo Tour event of the official qualification period for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
It’s the second time that this beautiful and vibrant city has staged a Grand prix and its shared Mongolian and Chinese cultural heritage were once again on display during a spectacular opening ceremony which saw IJF president Mr Marius Vizer declare the Grand prix and the race to Tokyo open.
We'll bring you all the very best stories and action from the event, before we take a journey to Iran in the latest Judo for the World feature.
We'll then see if Hohhot's Mongolian inhabitants could see their dreams come true as the legendary Naidan took to the tatami.
