Judo Highlights - Ekaterinburg Grand Slam 2017

Welcome to Russia and the city of Ekaterinburg, which now plays host to its inaugural event on the IJF world Judo Tour as it takes over from Tyumen as the location for Russia's Grand Slam.
In particular, Japanese head coach Inoue Kosei was using the event to test out two of his selected athletes, Nagayama Ryuju and Hashimoto Soichi....how would they fair in Russia?
We'll see raw emotion for World Judo Tour veteran Miryam Roper as she represents Panama for the first time
And we'll catch up with Russia's own Olympic champion Khasan Khalmurzaev, after his return to action here in Ekaterinburg.

A judoka is a person who practices judo. Similarly, a karateka is a person who practices karate. Taekwondoka = taekwondo. Etcetera.

i don't mean to be rude, but what's wrong with some of the judokas ears? they look really deformed, why's that?

Jana K. Wrestlers of all kinds have them. Sometimes an ear gets caught in a bind during ground work (ne waza), pressure crushes a vein in the ear and it swells massively. When the ear is recovered, it looks slightly deformed. People who have "dumpling ears (japanese expression)" are very hardy fighters who have had this happen many times. It looks gross, but for some it's a mark of seniority.

Jana K. ITS CAUSED BY CONSTANT BANGING AND THE SUIT CONSTANTLY RUBING AGAINST THE EAR.MOSTLY FROM GROUND WORK.

Cauliflower Ear is what it is called in the U.S. some, not all grapplers, wrestlers, Jiu Jitsu, Judo players get it during their careers
