Welcome to the beautiful city of Antalya on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast which now once again hosts a grand prix event on the IJF World Judo Tour.
It's a continuation of a fruitful relationship between this nation and the sport of Judo which has been developing over the past decade and once again continued to blossom with the eve of the Grand Prix heralding another important milestone as an agreement between the IJF, the Turkish Judo Federation and the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport saw Judo included in the curriculum of 20 schools across the country.
In this program, we’ll see some epic battles between some of the best Judoka on the planet.
We’ll provide a poignant reminder of how judo is more than just a sport…
And in an event which boasted Judo’s universal appeal to the highest degree, we’ll see if Turkey would be celebrating a grand prix gold once the dust had settled.
Welcome to the official Judo channel, brought to you by the International Judo Federation!

There should be no points given for rolling ippons, or for when the thrower hits his head, Judo is a martial art and needs to remain one.

There's a good argument for that. The ippon by the first turk looked very impressive for the sport of Judo, but from a martial art point of view it was severely flawed: the Turk ended up with his back on the ground and essentialy handled the Brazilian a side control on a silver platter, and that's if this was a simple grappling match, in a more open context that judoka would've put himself in a really dangerous position, with the opponent free to rain down heavy blows to his head while he's on the ground. Though rules should exist to prevent serious injury and bad sportsmanship, for martial arts they should ALWAYS keep in mind the original context of use of that particular martial art, what it was created to achieve. Judo is about controling your opponent through his own force while minimizing your risk of injury; if you put yourself in such a precarious position you should never be awarded based on a technicality of the rule set.

I don't think that the throw at 20:58 is Uchi Mata. It looks more like Hane Goshi.

@@henrycaldwell4454 I was banned from martial arts as a kid because I threw someone over my shoulder. They landed on their face and there was blood everywhere... Judo is great. We are learning Gracie judo. But judo is very dangerous and aggressive It's good for confidence and fighting spirit. I know a guy who's sport career ended from a judo injury he was semi pro rugby... Over all UFC was getting bigger and bigger My uncle who did chow gar king fu decided I had to wait until 21 before learning martial arts Because winning a fight with physical strength is not acceptable I agree with this I live ibjjf Probably more than most people simply because I started in my late 20s So it means something different to me than most sporty kids

I have been into Silat and Escrima for 28 years and Tai Chi and Bagua for 12 years. I want to learn Judo and BJJ. I know a lot of joint locks and disarms. I love to feel my energy and I have fun dancing with weapons!

This isn't a sports commentary, it's merely yelling and screaming into the microphone. Sorry and all that, but if you raise the voice to the very limit from the word go, there is nowhere to go after that and it becomes virtually a meaningless exercise.
