This ancient metropolis is steeped in history and its mixture of classical architecture and rugged natural beauty make it one of the most picturesque locations on the IJF world tour.
Judo is huge in Georgia and last year Tbilisi made its debut as a Grand Prix host to wide fanfare in the streets, as the locals had a chance to see their national judo heroes in action.
One month ago the world tour kicked off in Dusseldorf, where there was a gold for Georgia's judo poster boy Liparteliani.
